Comment Thread

I did a comment thread with Sahil. Comment thread is a creating a conversation with the other person about some work they have done.

We did a conversation about my potting plants blog post. In a comment thread you should have a nice greeting, a positive statement about there work and a question to finish of.

Heres an example of me and Sahils comment thread:

Potting Plants

Follow these intructions to plant tomato seeds.

Watch out for a bacteria which is called Legionella longbeachae which will cause you to get sick and will possibly die when inhaling the bacteria.

Materials:

• Mask
• Potting mix
• Seeds
• A trowel or shovel
• Planter box
• Gloves
• Water

Steps:

1. Get all the equipment which are the soil, your seeds and water. 

2.  Dig your soil with the trowel into your planter box.

3. Poke a hole in your soil to put your seeds in.

4. Leave it in a sunny place to grow.

Dance Mat Typing

I completed a task called dance mat typing. Dance mat typing is a can do activity which helps you learn to type without looking at your keyboard.

First I set up a 15 minute timer to time myself while doing the task. This time I did level two.

The second level is learning the letters R and U.

The last level I got up to was learning T and Y.

This task was a bit challenging because sometimes I keep on looking at my keyboard.

Literacy CH 1

I created a literacy chart about an odd object around my house. The object I chose to explain about was a grater. A grater is used to grate foods into pieces.

First, I went around my house to find the object to use which was a grater.

Lastly, I created a poster and wrote a short procedure about its functions.

1. Wash the grater before use.

2. Make sure it’s on a flat surface to keep it steady.

3. Start grating.

4. Choose the food you want to grate such as carrots, potatoes, cucumber, cheese, garlic, apples and pears.

5. Then start cooking with your grated food.

This activity was fun because I got to talk about how something works.

I completed a task called Poetry. This task is where I had to find items around my house and turn them into peoms.

Next I had to think of a verb that were four lettters long. The verb I thought of was step.

Afterwards I found items around my house with colours on it which I found a blue controller, yellow banana, orange ( Fruit ) and a red apple.

This task was fun cause I got to find items around the house like a scavenger hunt.

The second level is learning these two letters on the top row which are E and I.

The third level is learning the letters R and U.

The last level I got up to was learning T and Y.

Madlibs

I completed a task called Madlibs. Madlibs is where you have to write words in this story generator to make a funny story.

My group an I completed a task called madlibs to create a funny story. We had to think of a boys name, a girls name, a colour, a place, a car brand, a number between 8 and 13, a day of the week and a type of fabric.

First we wrote down a boy and girls name which was Joe and Lucy.

Next we wrote down a colour and a place which was the colour blue and the place was KFC.

Afterwards we wrote down a car brand and a number between 8 and 13 and another number which was Mercedes benz and the number was 12 and the other number was 15.

Last we wrote down a type of fabric and a day of the week which was Monday and the fabric was cotton.

I enjoyed this task because we created a very funny story.

Typing

I completed a task called typing. Typing is a can do task activity in LS1 which can help you improve your typing without looking at your keyboard or hands.

I completed an activity called madlibs. I had to write down a boys name, an animal, a place, a action, and another action.

First I wrote down the boys name which was James.

Next I wrote down a animal which was a fox.

Afterwards I wrote down a place which was school.

Lastly I wrote down two actions which were run and dance.

I enjoyed this task because you can make up a story and share it with you family or friends.

Typing

I completed another can do activity called typing. Typing is a task where you have to type up the words on the screen without looking at your keyboard.

First I set up a fifteen minute timer to time myself while typing to see how far I got to in that fifteen minutes.

The level I got up to was the chicken level. It was very hard for me because I kept looking at my keyboard

I enjoyed this task because this helped me type without looking at my keyboard.

Reasons & Statistics

I wrote down my reasons and statistics.

First I worte down my 3 reasons to back up my argument. My argument is about having more food and water for everyone so there can be less starving.

Next I wrote down my first reason which was: There should be more water because they can keep you hydrated and healthy and can keep you from being dehydrated.

My second reason was: Eating real food like vegetables can help nourish and protect your skin.

My last reason was: Eating food can help us produce energy to allow us breathe, think and move.

I found these reasons from different websites which talk about why food and water is important.

Persuasion

I created a poster about persuasion.

First I watched two videos about persuasion. The first video I watched about persuasion was kid president. Kid president explained six steps about persuasion which was to listen, acceptance, pause, breathe love, treat people like their people, distract them and Dance. Then I watched the second video.

Next, the other video I watched was about persuasive writing. The video explained how to persuade someone. Persuading is trying to convince someone, you can also convince your friends, family, strangers, siblings and teachers.

Lastly, I created a poster about persuasion. I used all of the information that I got from the two videos I watched. For example: 18 looks like the number 18, but when you flip the number it will look like the number 81 from a different perspective.

I learned a lot about what persuasion is from the two videos I watched.
