R-This week we learnt about five different punctuation marks and how to use them


E-First we learnt about what punctuation marks are and how to use each different one.
Next we created a poster to show our learning. Our group did Exclanation  mark

Descriptive writing

Today I did for writing was Descriptive writing. What I had to do was describe a picture what it is doing what does it look like. I described a picture of Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson). And also this what I said:Nick Fury sees something suspicious That's why his facial expression looks that way.

Prototec

Today for math's I challenged my self to Basic facts on Prototec. The basic facts one that I did was stage 2-3 it was timed and also the questions were very easy because the questions were mainly counting up to 5's. and if you want to try it yourself  here is the link: Maths/game

Fact find

Today for reading I did a fact find about Usain Bolt. He is from Jamaica he was born on August the 21st 1986 in Trelwany Jamaica. He won both the 100 meter and the  200 meter. He was also called " The fastest man alive" he also won three gold medals in Beijing, China and becoming the fastest man in the world.

R-This week we had to use our book title and find keywords to unlock information.

E-First we needed to read our book.Next we needed to make a list of keywords.Lastly we need to think of all the information that word unlocks as a reminder.

E- I enjoyed doing the keywords list.

Kiwican

Today the year fives went to kiwican. First we talked about leadership and what we have to do to become a leader.After we talked about leadership we did a game where we have to get a partner and then we have to face each other and put our hands behind our backs and we have to to use two hands to make a number and your partner has to use there two hands and then we bring our hands out and whoever gets the number correctly wins.

Then we did a game called bop it first we have to do eight moves the eight moves were bop,woah,dab,twist,floss,spin,jump,whip,kick,those were the eight moves we did.Then we did a game when we have to split up in to two teams the two teams have to compete. The first two people have to answer a question whoever answers the question correctly has to verse the next person in the other team.Lastly we had to do some more questions but we were still in our teams.

Basic facts boxes

Today for my basic facts boxes I did my addition and subtraction. first I did my addition, I got none wrong on my addition. My time was 5:52 seconds. Next for my basic facts was my subtraction, my subtraction took I little bit of time because they were a little bit harder then I thought. After I finish my subtraction my time was 12:43 seconds.

Fact find

Today for reading I did a fact find. My fact find was about Kevin Hart. The first fact about Kevin Hart was he was born on the sixth of July 1979 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania USA as Kevin Darnell Hart. He is a producer, comedian and actor he is known for ride long (2014) Central intelligence (2016) and Grudge Match (2013) . He has been married to Eniko Parrish since August 13 2016.

My thinkboards

Today for maths I did a thinkboard, the equation was thirty eight plus fifty.  There were four columns.  The first column I did was nine maths equations.  The next column that I did was describing the equation by drawing it. the first thing I wrote down on the drawing column was 38+50 twice.  The next thing I wrote was 38+50, and two arrows underneath 38+50.  After I did that the last thing I wrote down was eight plus zero/three plus five.

The second to last column was I had to write a story problem.  Then I did the last one.  The last one was I had to explain how I solved the equation by using words, numbers, and an equation.

Today I learnt where the waka settle and the places I have been to.

Respect badge

today for badge bidding we were in our groups talking about how we can earn a badge. After that I talked about respect because I respect the environment by picking up the rubbish of the ground. Then we started to vote then they all voted for me so I went to Mr Ogilvie and told him what I said. Then he gave me the badge and I also received I green paper that the teacher gave me and told me to go to the office and put the green piece of paper in a bucket where all the students put the paper in.

Attitude Badge

Today we did badge bidding. There were nine groups in my group we talked about what we did that would earn a badge. I talked about attitude because i participate in all the activities like Rippa Rugby and Kiwican. Then we all voted and then i was the one to go get the badge when i got the badge i also received a blue card to go take it to the office i had to put it in a bucket when you receive a badge.

A simple sentence and a compound sentence

In writing we had to describe four pictures one was when we have to describe a boy that playing soccer.The second one was we had to describe an old house. The third picture was describing the sky city.And the last picture was describing a shop with bread.

Tessellation

Today in maths we did a tessellation. What we had to do is use different kinds of shapes to make our tessellation. First we had to go on to a website that we can use colours for our tessellation the website was called colour scheme and we can use different colours to make our designs. After that i use the colours for my tessellation. And also my shapes were diamonds. I used  diamonds to make squares. Then i used my colours to use on my shapes.

Early NZ Exploration

Kupe and Cook are two important explorers in the New Zealands history.

Kupe had found Aotearoa around the eleven hundreds (1100).  Kupe's voyage to Aotearoa was triggered by the lack of sea life.  Kupe traveled from Hawaiki to the south where he found Aotearoa.

The cause of sea life disappearance was due to a giant octopus that kupe followed

(in hope of fighting it.)  Kupe and his people (TRIBE) were very talented.

Kupe came to land by a poti naming the land Aotearoa in the maori meaning; Land of the long white cloud.

 Cook came to New Zealand in 1769 (6th of October)

Captain cook and his voyage to New Zealand in search  for the unknown southern island.

 He discovered New Zealand on the Endeavour which was a boat 

 Captain Cook was famous for discovering most of the pacific.
 Captain cook sailed and mapped most of the pacific

First waka

Originally there were no people in New Zealand.The first people to settle in New Zealand came in a seriesof waka.  The first ten waka were named  Kurahaupo Takitimu Mataatau Tainui Arai-Te au Ururao Te arawa Aotea Tokomaru and Horouta

Most of the waka visited the north island.Some of the places the waka landed were at the south island

The ten waka came to New Zealand  to discover new land for there people to live

Retelling

For reading we did retelling.First we had to use our keywords and reminders from our keywords lists.My book was called Big machines on the road.First we have to make a story about our book then we have to retell and also we cannot use the paragraphs from our book. Second we have to underline and highlight our keywords so we know which are my keywords.

Kiwisport

 LI: To learn the basics of Rippa Rugby.   

Today we did rippa rugby.First Ls1 split up in two groups the year five and six boys were together.The year five and six girls were together. the year five and six coaches names were ice and Ioane. First we were in two teams the teams were red and green.Then we did a game when we have to be in our teams and form a line and the first person that is  in the front of the line has to run to the blue cone and pass the ball to the second person then then the person that has the ball has to pass the

ball back to the the first person then the first person has to zig- zag around the yellow cone.After they go around the yellow cones the have to go around a flag and pass the ball to the next person.After we did the game we played a game of Rippa rugby. After the teams red and green teamed up together because we were playing against our coaches Ice and Ioane.
     

Listening

KiwiCan was about listening.

We played 'bop the cone' to practice listening for instructions.

We also played 'Chinese whispers' to practice listening and hearing information.

I thought that kiwiCan was useful and interesting.

Basic facts boxes

 Today i did basic facts boxes i only did the addition.I also did speed demon i got all off them correctly my time was five minutes. I also had to do ten rows of basic facts boxes we only had to do ten each in one row.

Explorers and Adventurers

Explorers and Adventurers are people who travel and discover new things.

Explorers are people who travel to find new things and record them for the community such as Jeremy Clarkson, Captain James Cook, Neil Armstrong

Adventurers are people who travel to take part in something for them self. such as Sir Edmund Hillary,Bear Grylls,Sylvia Earle.

Explorers and Adventurers need to have or show many different attitude and attributes such as open minded because so they can listen to each others ideas.

Legal and illegal images

Legal and illegal images.

A legal image is an be used with permission by the law.

Image creators give legal permission to use their images by adding a sharing licence.
It is important to use legal images to help creators and so we don't get in trouble.

When using images make sure to check the licence for permission.
