I read 26 pages of the book called: Players and skills written by Jon Richards.

First I read the book about Rugby players and skills.

Next I searched in the book to find 3 facts about the book.

Afterwards I searched for 3 words that I don't know and wrote down the meaning.

I like the way the author talks about skills and what it is used for.

First I read information about the America's cup and to find information for the who, what, where, when, and why.

The Highway Rat

The visualisation strategy is trying to get a picture in your head.

The story was about a highway rat who was a bad person who was stealing all the other animals food.

My visualisation is different to another persons picture because we all have different drawings. It is important because I am able to tell the story by looking at the pictures.

AFL | Week 2

We learnt two new skills from our coach named Andre. They were called a tackle and a ruck.

The first skill we practised was called: The handball pass. The first step was to make a fist with your most dominant hand that you write with. The next step was to use your least dominant hand and make a dinner plate. The last step was to aim your fist at the x and do a pirate dance.

The second skill that we practised was called: A drop punt kick. The first step was to make the letter M on the top of the ball, and make sure the laces are not facing your face.
The Next step was to face the ball top to bottom so you can kick the X. The last step is to face your toes to your partner and kick the on the X.

Afterwards, we learnt how to do the two new skills.

The first skill Andre taught us was called: A ruck or a tip off. Their are only two steps. The first step was to throw the ball up in the air. The second step is to try and hit the ball up in the air before your teamate does.

The second skill we learnt was called: tackling. The tackling skill is to aim for the hips. You have to strap your arms around your opponent and tackle them to the ground. The first step was to get on our knee's. The next step is to try and tackle your partner to the grass

The part that I enjoyed the most was trying to hit the teachers because I want to get better at my aiming.

Reading large numbers

Place value is a system that groups numbers based on their size.

The postition of a digit determins it's value. When we say numbers we group them within the same house. For example 15709 has fifteen thousands, seven hundreds, and nine ones.

Understanding our base 10 place value system allows us to pronouce big numbers properly. It also allows us to identify numbers before and after.

Mihi Whakatau

Mihi whakatau is a Maori term for a formal greeting.

Mihi Whakatau is traditionally used for welcoming, introductions and openings. It is undertaken by the Tangata Whenua (local inhabitants)

The Mihi needs to acknowledge the significant aspects to the place. The Maunga (mountain) , Awa (river) and Iwi (tribe) are generally used.

Introducing Ingoa (name) , Oku tipuna (ancestored place) and where you live is important for the audience to understand the position of the speaker.

Manuhiri is the term used to describe or group the visitor/s that are being welcomed.

It is important to end with a warm welcome so the visitors know that there is no hostility in the 2 groups being together.

Being respectful of the land, the people and the purpose of a visit will ensure long lasting relationships and connections.

Treaty of Waitangi

LS1 learnt about the 3 P's in the Treaty of Waitangi and how they apply to our learning.

First Mr Ogilvie introduced the 3 P's in the Treaty of Waitangi. They are: protection, partnership, and participation. Then in groups we wrote statements about the 3 P's in LS1. LS1 figured out the 3 P's are all connected.

After that we used our group ideas and thought about how they connected to me.

I chose these 3 statements because they will help me be successful with my learning in LS1. I will work on helping other people with there work more often.

Cultural Art

I completed my cultural task today and I chose to create my Sydney Funnel web spider online.

I  googled the image of the spider so I can trace it, the next thing I did was I traced the legs using the curve tool, lastly I traced the body of the spider.

The colours I choose for my spider are the hex colours, where you can customise the colours to make it  lighter or darker colour.

This was an enjoyable task it was cool creating my online spider and colouring it in. It links to me because I was born in sydney.
