Emergency shelters

Emergency shelters help and protect people from disasters and accidents like: tornado, volcano eruptions, strong storms or winds, and bushfires or house fires.

Strong wind shelters can be used in a strong wild storm. One of the shelters were titanium. Titanium is strong use because it can hold strong wind and cannot be broken.

Tsunami shelters can be used in a flood. One of the shelters are steel frame. Steel frame is good use because  steel-frame structures are recommended for vertical evacuation structures.

Shelters are used to protect people from disasters. Some shelters are very good use because they can be strong.

Persuasive speech

This week for writing I planned my speech about why graffiti should be stopped.

First I had to come up with a greeting. Next I had to write how I will introduce my audience. Then I had to come up with a rhetorical question.

Afterwards I had to write my opinion and a statement that states with my point. Next I had to list some facts to support my opinion. Then I had to write a solution to my problem.

Lastly I had to write what happens if people don't agree with my opinion.

L.I: To create a persuasive speech.

Here is my speech plan below:

Touch Rugby | Kiwi Sport

Today for touch rugby we learnt two new skills.

The first skill was to plant the ball. We had to put the ball between our legs and step over it so the other person can get the ball.

Then we did an activity called bibs verses non-bibs. Five people from each team gets one ball. Then everyone with the ball has to run away from the people with no ball. If you get tagged you have roll the ball.

The last skill was attacking verses defending. There were 2 attackers and 1 defender. The attackers have the ball and the defender has to try and block them from scoring.

The first person with the ball has to run up to the defender and pass the ball.

Making Connections

Text to self is talking about something that you have done. For example: in the book ants on the march ants have different jobs to do. I do jobs at home and get paid money.

Text to text is talking about something that links with another book. For example: in ants of the march ants are strong, creative and fast. In the book rahi and the patupaiarehe rahi was fast and strong and even creative.

Text to world is something that links with something that has happened around the world. For example: ants live and work in huge groups called colonies. Builders work in huge groups to contruct buildings.

LI. To make connections.
